How to choose a good tutor?

Do you want to improve your child’s academic performance and are considering hiring a tutor? Or maybe you have decided to take care of your foreign language skills, for example, and are looking for a professional to help you with that? Find out how to choose the right person.

Tutoring – even every second student uses it!

According to statistics, even every second student uses paid tutoring. What is the reason for that? Most often it is difficulties in mastering the material, but not only. For example, students who want to get the best results in exams, or those who want to improve their skills in a foreign language or another field, also attend additional classes. Tutoring is not a shame! It is worth expanding your knowledge, and the motivation to do so can vary.

Think about what you need

The first step in finding the perfect tutor should definitely be choosing a goal. Is the tutor going to help you get out of danger in school, or is the tutor going to help a very good student get the highest possible marks in their final exam? Is the student a highly motivated person who will work extra on their own, or will they mainly learn in class? It is worth answering these and other questions in order to choose the right person, as well as the frequency of possible lessons. This should help in the initial search. It is always worth working on your motivation, because it is well known that nothing can be done by force. For there to be results, there must also be commitment on the part of the tutee

Where can I find a tutor?

How do I go about finding the best tutor? Online classifieds and social media are definitely full of messages from students looking for tutors. Feel free to browse around, but the best way still seems to be to go by recommendation. Perhaps you have heard from a friend about a tutor who has done exceptionally well? It is definitely worth getting more information! This way you will be able to find out a lot about the person you are potentially hiring before you even invite them to your first lesson

Low rate – is it always worth it?

Everyone is looking to save money, but don’t get screwed by the festival of lowest prices. Sometimes it is worth paying a little more to get good quality teaching. This doesn’t mean that you necessarily have to choose the most expensive person, because that won’t always be the best teacher. The lowest rate on the market can also mean that there is something wrong with the tutor, and that is someone you would definitely rather avoid. Just be smart about the rate!

Online or live?

Just a few years ago this question probably wouldn’t have come up. Tutoring was usually done with the student driving to the tutor’s home, but nowadays many tutors offer online tutoring, and students are very happy to use it. The biggest time-saver from the tutee’s point of view is the drop-in or online option. The latter version is not acceptable to everyone, especially for tutoring in subjects that require completion of assignments, such as math. However, if you choose the online option, make sure you have equipment that can handle such a lesson. Also check your internet before tutoring. People who care about live classes and the lowest possible rate will probably choose lessons with a commuter teacher.
