What medications can be used during teething?

Teething is a stressful time for both the toddler and anxious parents. Find out how you can relieve your child at this difficult time.

Teething – how to survive it?

Without a doubt, the sight of a painfully teething baby is very difficult for all parents. Sometimes children teethe virtually asymptomatic, but very often it is associated with unpleasant discomfort. Among them are increased body temperature, irritability, excessive drooling, restless sleep.

All of these affect the home quite severely. An irritable toddler is also a tired parent. Fortunately, it is not that we are helpless in the case of teething. On the contrary, there are proven ways, both when it comes to those at home and pharmacology. Learn about them to bring relief to your little one.

Medicines for teething – what is worth buying at the pharmacy?

Let’s start with the medicines that can be used during painful teething. This issue usually puzzles parents who are not sure what remedies will be appropriate. Fortunately, contrary to appearances, the choice in this regard is quite large.

First of all, a variety of gels and ointments with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties are recommended. Some such products also have antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Also recommended are gels containing sodium hyaluronate, which forms a protective layer on the surface of the gum. As you can see, the choice of such products is considerable, so it is worth asking at the pharmacy just the right gel.

In the case of very painful ailments, you should also reach for typical painkillers in doses adapted to the weight and age of the child. Highly effective here are suppositories.

Home remedies for teething – get to know them!

With the help of teething comes not only pharmacology. Do you know home remedies for this ailment? Our grandmothers and mothers eagerly reached for them, so they are tried in fact… on us!

One way is to apply a tetanus cloth soaked in chamomile to the gums. An infusion of this plant has a proven anti-inflammatory effect, so dip the tetra in the infusion and put it in the freezer. Then take it out and apply it to the baby’s gums, just being careful that the tetra is not too hard.

Another option is to massage the gum with a silicone finger sheath. Gentle circular motions will help relieve pain.

Gentle sucking also calms the baby and soothes the pain, so at times of painful teething, joining him to the breast or, in the case of babies fed with modified milk, giving him a bottle, is a good solution.

Frozen carrots are also worth trying – they can become a natural teether. Just remember to wait a few minutes after taking it out of the refrigerator.
